New Year's Resolution:
Spend more time with friends like these!
I hate how busy life gets. All three of us are in the teaching world and balancing everything else outside of that, so we have to work very hard at staying connected (I do give us points because all three of us do a great job on staying connected-can't wait for our February dinner!).
I have been very blessed with great friends and life is never going to slow down, so I am going to be sure (even if I have to stalk my friends to get them to hang out or answer the phone- I don't take it personal - :) - we should spend more time with people who make us smile because there are plenty of people out in the world who wipe it off our faces pretty quickly!
Happy 30th, sweet Amy!!
I LOVE this picture!! It's a perfect birthday picture for the birthday girl with all her friends!
Andrea and I planned a 30th birthday for Amy. We had so much fun getting it all organized! If I could make money entertaining and planning parties..I would! I'm not saying I'm good at it, but I just enjoy the planning of it all.
I met these two girls at my first class when I decided to go back to school to receive my masters (ACTUALLY, to make a story long..I ran into Amy at a NYE party and as we were talking both figured out we were about to start the same program-small world!). I am so very grateful they entered my life! It was a hard time to go back to school...new job..newly married and this program consumed me for over two years, but having both of these girls made it all worth it!
Rick's Bakery! Both of these girls LOVE this bakery...sometimes I wonder if they keep me around because I'm their close connection to Rick's- HA! :)
Amy's Favorite drinks- Andrea and I were impressed with our bartending skills
My other fabulous friend, Marcy, created the adorable invitation! (Like I said, blessed with wonderful friends!). Since it was a surprise, I printed the invitation for Amy to see that night.
Andrea and I went with the 30 ROCKS theme! The night 'Rocked' like always!
Looking forward to many more celebrations!
"Friendship is born at that moment when one person says to another: What! You too?? I thought I was the only one."
-C.S. Lewis-
I am a sucker to think about New Year's Resolutions. I laughed because as we were cleaning out the office I found a journal Addison and I (ok..I) started in 2006 to write down our resolutions..of course I had to get detailed about it and we even got to choose one for each of us. I guess one of them should of been not to forget ..because it hadn't been touched since. We decided not to continue with that one.
My resolution this year is to not lose anything! I know my heart is in the right place when I lose something..but it really bothers me that I 'misplace' things. Addison has accepted this about me because he has to remind me frequently to keep up with something (Still trying to find two cords I lost of his months ago....), but I am going to make a conscious effort to not be so scattered. He told me recently that he has been observing me and he truly sees that I don't realize what I'm doing to lose something- thanks, my true love! :) The funny thing is on New Year's Day Debbie called me because I left my keys up at her house three days ago... She said it didn't technically count because I left them BEFORE the new year... I'm really trying!
My other goal is to be a friendly, optimistic person. The grown up world can suck this out of you. When I turned 30 I was SUPER excited to hit my 30s! I was just done with the 20s, but as you get older...(it's not rocket science...you have more experiences..more people and lessons you learn) it gets harder to keep that happy-go-lucky-attitude! I found a FEW quotes on Pinterest that I LOVED (That should probably be a resolution as well...less Pinterest) -
"The smile on my face doesn't mean my life is perfect. It means I appreciate what I have and what God has blessed me with"
another fav!:
"YOUR DAY WILL GO THE WAY THE CORNERS OF YOUR MOUTH TURN"
My third resolution is to do more community service. I truly don't do enough, so call me if there's anything needing volunteering! :)
I'll continue with my goals: more dinners at home, learn to sew and ... I can't remember the 3rd one..I'll have to look back at that blog post...
Stumbled upon this in the produce aisle... Really?? I think Turner will just stick with his regular flavored apples...
If anything...my New Year's Resolution is to keep learning from Turner..'sometimes you just need to plop down and read a good book, Mom!'
Happy 2012!
This is going to be a good one!
